Twickenham Road Race
May 10th, 2008
"A different kind of bike race" brought to you by all six Hobsons:
Nathan, Claire, Rachelle, Lauren, Samantha, and Garrett
Not one flat mile.
No feed zone.
No wheel support- one final sweep vehicle if you need a lift.
A very safe finish - see the shark tooth profile!
Two categories: Fast (Men Category 1/2/3) and Getting Faster (Men 4/5).
*Women may ride one category down from their normal category.
Some food and lots of fun at the finish of a road race!
We invite you to share in the beauty of Fossil and the surrounding area. Remember the Columbia Plateau Stage Race? This course starts off using the same highway as stage three but turns right at Service Creek where the second climb of the day commences. Take in the John Day River and painted hills as you tackle the "twin" summits of this climb. Turn right for a breathtaking descent plunging back down to the John Day River and Twickenham. Take care as there are numerous tight switchbacks, off camber turns, no center line, two cattle guards, and some rough pavement on this descent. You have arrived at the final climb of the day. Starting at the river you will again climb back to the pine forest and the crest of Butte Creek for the second time of the day, only from a different direction. Congratulations for finishing this challenging course! (The ride back to town is all downhill after a brief ¼ mile climb to the true summit).
