2003 Oregon State Road Championships


The 2003 Oregon State Road Championships will take place this year in Lane County Oregon. Staging will be based at Crow High School. The course will take place on some of the best roads Lane County has to offer. The course will offer an opportunity for every rider, sprinter, climber, and opportunist. Each event offers the chance to come out and race for cash and prizes if it isn't your championship race.

Registration will close at 10:00 am, 5 minutes earlier for the Pro 1/2 field.

NOTE: As of May 20, the following has changed for Rehearsal RR.
Tandem Race: Start time moved to 1:00pm from 10:35am
Women's class: Combined field of 1/2/3/4, scored separately as 1/2 and 3/4 classes. The distance will be 45 miles.
The Pro 1/2 race distance may be changed to 75 miles unless anyone strongly objects.

All categories are tentative and must have 5 or more riders, or riders will be combined with other classes. Some classes will be grouped together and scored separately depending on size. Field limit is 100 racers per category.

JUNIORS NOTE: Your registration will end at noon, after 10:00 am go to the finish line at the top of Doan Road and find Richard Sweet. (It would be helpful to know if any juniors plan on making the race, we need to set up drivers and officials. Send me an email if you are pretty sure you are coming.)

Course:
Starting on Briggs Hill Road the course will head west to Territorial Hwy and then turn north. It will then turn onto Doan Road and head toward Crow Road. Racers will follow Crow Road to Pine Grove and turn right. Following Pine Grove to Spencer Creek Road and making a left to head back to Briggs road. Turn Right onto Briggs Hill Road and head back to the staging area. Each lap is approximately 15 miles with two small hills and a few small rollers. The total elevation gain is 850-900 feet per lap.

Cash and Prizes are for non-championship classes only. Championship races will include medals. The prizes will be announced shortly and cash will depend on number of entries in each category.

Rehearsal Road Race note:
The first 100 registered racers will get a custom Burley Oregon Championship Musette Bag with Clif Bar and Shot.

Championship Road Race note: If you pre-register you are guaranteed a Custom Oregon Championship Burley Musette Bag complete with a Clif Bar and Clif Shot, if you don't you will need to be one of the first 85 people to register day of race. You can register online at www.orbike.com, there is a $1.42 charge, bring your registration receipt with you.

Cash/Prizes will go 8 deep in the Pro 1/2 field, 5 deep in the Men Masters 40+ and 3-5 deep in each women's class depending on field size.

Directions to Staging area: Take I-5 to exit 195B and head west on Beltline Hwy and follow it to the intersection at Hwy 126. Take a right on Hwy 126 (heading West). Take a left (south) on Greenhill road, there is a stop light and gas station on the NE corner, as well as a sign that directs you to Crow. In about 1/4 mile or less it turns into Crow Road, continue for approximately 8 miles to Crow High School, which is on the right at 25863 Crow Rd. Drive time from Portland/Bend/Medford is approx 2 1/2 hours.

Entry Fees:
Rehearsal May 24th: Pre-registration postmarked before May 5th $18.00, $23.00 after or race day
Championship June 14th: Pre-registration postmarked before May 26th, $23.00 after or race day. You may pay for Championship race at the Rehearsal and receive Pre-registration price. It will require a separate entry form and waiver than the Rehearsal Race.
