OBRA

Well the second Friday Night race saw much better weather than the first and
we were able to finish all the groups with 3 races a piece.  Once again the
juniors got the night started with Chariots and Handicap races and Stephan
Foax of Team Oregon once again fought his way to a first place finish on the
night.  Even though Ricky Bossen took the first event Stephan fought back to
win the next two and with Josh Woolcock only doing two of the events,
Stephan  increased his lead in the overall standings as well.  The Junior
women saw first time racer Rachelle Hobson also of Team Oregon overtake
Kaitlyn Reay in the junior Women's races although Kaitlyn did miss the first
race here and Rachelle split the next two with Kayla Woolcock and Ellie
Bossen only racing once a piece.  That was enough for Kaitlyn to maintain
first place for the series and move Rachelle just ahead of Ellie after two
races with Kayla in fourth.

The novice women and masters then took to the track with the Women getting
under way first, and having some of the most exciting races.  The first two
events saw Jen Feathergill and Shirley battle it out for first and second
with Jen taking the first two and Candi and Kaitlyn (doind her second set of
races on the night) battling for third with Candi and Kaitlyn both getting a
third.  Then came the final event of the night, a 3 lap handicap.  While
Kaitlyn tired just a bit after her 5th race of the night Jen and Shirley
were coming strong on Candi about 10 meters back going into turn three.
Candi accelerated to the line only to just get nipped by both Jen and
Shirley with Jen taking her third win of the night, but Shirley keeping the
lead for the series.

The Masters A, B and C races had over 20 riders with Tom Powers once again
showing some great speed and track savy and even without his teammate to
help took the first two races.  While Patrick Hartigan once again ended up
second, newcomer Rob Hausner had great speed to take the final event leaving
Tom and Patrick in first and second for the series as well.  The Masters B
racers saw Ted Forgeron of River City take two of the events with Stephen
Lamb of Team Oregon able to break things up and that moved Ted into the lead
in the Masters B series.  The Masters A races saw Team Oregon take it to my
Safeway Saturn team pretty good.  After John Bravard and John Lombard ran
away with the first race and they both lapped the field in the points race
as well, although Bill groves was able to tag along and steal second place
along the way.  Then, even with John Lombard sitting out the last race,
Chauncey Curl left me at 4 people to go in the Miss-n-out with 3 other Team
Oregon riders.  Lucky for me it was a short race as I was able to stay in
and finally beat John B. for his first loss on the night, but he was still
able to take over the lead of the Masters A series with his efforts.
